Emir appoints
envoys to Serbia,
Azerbaijan

HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani yesterday issued Emir decision No 79 of  2014 appointing Sheikh Mubarak bin Fahad bin Jassim al-Thani as ambassador to Serbia.

The Emir also issued Emiri Decision No 80 of 2014 appointing Sayar Abdulrahman Jassim al-Mauda as ambassador to Azerbaijan.

 

Advisory Council
to convene on
November 11

 

HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani yesterday issued the following decrees:

1. Decree No 43 of 2014 inviting the Advisory Council to convene for its regular 43rd session on Tuesday, Muharram 18, 1436 H, corresponding to November 11, 2014.

2. Decree No 44 of 2014 ratifying an agreement establishing a joint commercial ministerial committee between the governments of Qatar and Argentina, which was signed in Doha on the Feb 17,  2014, and giving it the force of law in line with Article 68 of the Constitution.

3. Decree No 45 of 2014 ratifying a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of education between the governments of Qatar and Cyprus, which was signed in Doha on the January 27, 2014, and giving it the force of law in line with Article 68 of the Constitution.

4. Decree No 46 of 2014 ratifying a co-operation agreement between the governments of the Qatar and Morocco in the field of youth and sports, which was signed in Doha on September 20, 1997 and giving it the force of law in line with Article 68 of the Constitution.

 

Chief of Staff
holds meetings

 

HE the Chief of Staff of the Qatari Armed Forces Major General Pilot Ghanim bin Shaheen al-Ghanim held separate meetings yesterday with head of UK Trade and Investment Defence and Security Organisation Richard Paniguian and Turkish Gendarmerie General Command (JGK) Commander Gen Abdullah Atay.  The meetings dealt with matters of mutual concern.

 

Qatar elected to
UN rights council

 

Qatar yesterday won the membership of the Human Rights Council for a three-year period from 2015-2017. Qatar won the vote in the UN General Assembly in New York backed by 142 countries as part of  the Group of Asian States.

This is the third time that Qatar has been elected to the Human Rights Council, which is the highest organ of the United Nations on human rights.

 

Real estate
transactions

 

Transactions between October 12 and 16 for the real estate sales contracts registered at the Ministry of justice are worth QR655,303,640, the real estate registration department at the Ministry said in its weekly report. The list of properties that were sold includes open plots of land, two-floor villas, annexes, houses, residential compounds and palaces which are located in the municipalities of Umm Salal, Al Khor, Al Dhakira, Doha, Al Rayyan, Al Shamal, Al Daayen and Al Wakrah.
