A 26-year-old Indian expatriate died in a road accident when his car got sandwiched between two trailers on Wakrah-Corniche road late in the evening on Thursday.

Sources which identified the victim as Prajo Joseph said he had been working in a construction firm for the last three years. Joseph, who was in Qatar for close to three years, was a safety officer with his company.

He was a native of Kavanad in Kerala’s Kollam district. Joseph leaves his wife and parents.

His wife was supposed to join him later this month.

A memorial service will be held for Joseph at Hamad Hospital mortuary at 2pm today, said his uncle John Francis Gregory.

 

TII invites papers for translation conference

Hamad Bin Khalifa University’s Translation and Interpreting Institute (TII) will host the Sixth Annual International Translation Conference, in March 2015 at the Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC).

TII is calling for papers on themes that include but are not limited to translation and the knowledge economy, new directions in post-colonial/ south-south translation, and translating and interpreting in Arab media.

Authors may submit papers in either Arabic or English, two conferences languages, and should additionally provide a 250 to 300-word abstract, contact details, and information about their institutional affiliation. Proposals received after October 30, 2014, cannot be considered.
