Birla Public School (BPS) will host Tedxbirlapublicschool at its auditorium this evening. The event starts at 5pm and will last for about three hours.

BPS is the first Indian school in the Middle East to host the renowned TED Talks. Around 100 invited guests will attend the event.

BPS Vice-Principal George Edison said: “We have completed all the preparations for the event.”  

Suresh, a senior teacher of the school, said that it would be an interesting evening for all the attendees.  “We are all excited about the event and proud that we are the first Indian school to host such a prestigious event. Hopefully, we will be able to put up a very impressive show today.”

The speakers on the occasion are Dr R Seetharaman, Group CEO DohaBank, Dr Thomas Zacharia, executive vice-president R&D, Qatar Foundation, Dr Eric Cooper, founder & president, National Urban Alliance, Nicole Van Hattem, Raw health coach, Tareq Halawa, mobile app designer, Intern Microsoft and Sundeep Singhla, economist Shell.

Each speaker will give a presentation on a particular topic for about 18 minutes.

They will speak on diverse topics such as sustained economy to environment to green health to innovation and technology among others.

TED stands for technology, entertainment and design. TEDx is a global set of conferences owned by the private non-profit Sapling Foundation under the slogan: “Ideas Worth Spreading”.

TED was founded in 1984 as a one-off event. The TEDx Programme is designed to help communities, organisations and individuals to spark conversation and connection through local experiences.
