Some 20 banned bird snares were recently seized by the inspectors of the wildlife section at the Environmental Protection Department of the Ministry of Environment (MoE).

The snares were equipped with gadgets that  produce the sounds of nightingales singing, to attract the birds and trap them.

The ministry had earlier banned such equipment and practices because of the damage to the local environment and the ecological system.

Further, two dump trucks were spotted and issued violations by MoE  patrols, for dumping construction refuse in unauthorised areas in the eastern parts of the country.

They were also referred to the public prosecution for necessary legal action.
