Bangladeshi Ambassador Syed Masud Mahmood Khundoker has briefed the Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage HE Dr Hamad bin Abdul Aziz al-Kuwari about the preparations under way for the 16th Asian Art Biennale which will be held in Dhaka in December.

Khundoker called on the Minister at his office and handed over an invitation to him on behalf of the Bangladesh cultural minister.  HE Dr al-Kuwari hoped that a Qatari delegation would participate in the Dhaka event.

Renowned and young artists from across Asia will participate in the fiesta being organised by Bangladesh since 1981, a spokesman for the Bangladeshi embassy said.

“The Bangladesh Biennale, since its beginning, has attempted to display the kaleidoscope of various artistic endeavours in which continuity and change come together. It showcases the artistic heritage and contemporary aesthetic trends in Asia. Most of the Asian countries participate in Bangladesh Biennale.

“This month-long fest provides platforms for exchange of views, discussions, seminars on different topics of art and related contemporary issues. Art maestros across the world are invited to participate in these events.

“With the founding objective of the Biennale - forming cultural bonds among the Asian and the Pacific nations, the event’s scope has gradually been extended to include countries in North Africa, Central Asia and beyond,” he added.
