Brigadier Saad bin Mohamed al-Kharji presents the award to Maersk Oil Qatar’s Hamad Ashkanani and another official.

The Ministry of Interior (MoI) and Maersk Oil Qatar (MOQ) have received the award for ‘Best Public Awareness Campaign’ at the 3rd annual ITS & Road Safety Forum, which concluded in Doha yesterday.

The award, recognised by the International Road Federation, was for their shared efforts to develop and launch Qatar’s national road safety brand ‘OneSecond!’

Sheikh Faisal bin Fahad al-Thani, deputy managing director of Maersk Oil Qatar said:  “The ‘OneSecond!’ national road safety brand is a fantastic example of a public-private partnership that supports the goals of the Qatar National Vision 2030.

“At Maersk Oil, we are very proud to have worked so closely with the Ministry of Interior National Traffic Safety Committee, the General Directorate of Traffic and Virginia Commonwealth University in Qatar, to develop the ‘OneSecond!’ national road safety brand. The unique partnership included the work by young VCUQatar designers who developed the creative concept for the ‘One Second’ visual identity,” he added.

‘OneSecond!’ was officially launched by Qatar’s Ministry of Interior on May 27, 2013, and a number of road safety awareness campaigns have already been delivered under the unified national brand.

Maersk Oil Qatar has supported a number of ‘OneSecond!’ programmes, including a child car seat campaign which focused on education and awareness about the importance of using seats belts and child seats for children in vehicles.  ‘One Second!’ already has a large following on social media and has achieved more than 20,000 followers on Facebook.
