The General Directorate of Traffic and ExxonMobil have launched a traffic awareness campaign in Doha.

The campaign will focus on preventive measures that focus on encouraging healthy driving habits, including wearing seat belts at all times, avoiding use of mobile phones while driving and abiding by speed limits.

ExxonMobil had signed an agreement with QU’s Qatar Road Safety Studies Centre to support initiatives aimed at reducing road accidents.

The centre will carry out an in-depth analysis and conduct research on traffic incidents. It will also suggest safety measures for school buses and do studies on pedestrian paths and traffic affairs management on highways in Qatar.

These initiatives have been planned in line with the National Strategy for Traffic Safety (2013-2022), powered by the National Committee for Traffic Safety.

The awareness campaign will be published in traditional media and social network sites to reach out to as many people as possible. Advertising boards with relevant messages will also be used throughout the city.

Director General Traffic Brig. Mohamed Saad al-Kharji said the joint campaign would provide fruitful results to raise traffic awareness among the public. He added that ExxonMobil had extended valuable support for a number of initiatives of the traffic department.

ExxonMobil Qatar President and General Manager Bart Cahir said that the company was committed to work with the traffic department and considers safety as a core value. He hoped that his company’s participation in the awareness campaign would reflect his company’s support to the State of Qatar and its people.

ExxonMobil’s commitment to excellence in the field of environment, health and safety is among the best in the industry, where these values are put in the context of Qatar National Vision 2030 aimed at protecting human resources, the environment and for preservation.
