Farms receive water supply

Qatar’s General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) has announced plans to widen its distribution of potable water in the country. Kahramaa president Essa bin Hilal al-Kuwari said the state-run utilities company would connect water pipes to local farms giving farmers access to high-quality drinking water via the Kahramaa distribution network. Al-Kuwari noted that Kahramaa had already started the project which was implemented under the instructions of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani. “Applications will be accepted in the first quarter of 2015 as per mutual regulations between Kahramaa and the Ministry of Environment,” al-Kuwari added.

Survey on energy usage

As more than 120 world leaders gather at the United Nations Climate Summit in New York this week to set out ambitious targets for energy efficiency and sustainable development, Qatar Green Building Council (QGBC) is launching a brand new e-survey encouraging residents in Qatar to share insight into their energy and water usage at home in order to ensure a greener future. The survey will gather information from Qatari citizens and expatriates over the next four weeks about how they use electricity, gas and water, in addition to their behaviour in using regular household appliances such as air conditioners, washing machines and televisions.
