The fifth edition of the Qatar International Businesswomen Forum will be held at the St Regis Doha on December 8-9, it was announced yesterday.

The Qatari Businesswomen Association (QBWA) will organise the annual event in collaboration with the Interactive Business Network.

The theme of the event will be ‘Business Women and the New Age of Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Social Responsibility’.

This year’s event promises to be another productive and informative forum. It also presents opportunities for information exchange, knowledge sharing and networking.

“Our role in society has been steadily increasing in significance,” said Aisha Alfardan, vice chairperson of QBWA. “We have risen from the ranks to occupy sensitive and senior managerial posts as well as drive our own businesses to greater heights.

“Through our aptitude, intelligence and efficiency that are distinctly feminine, we have become essential catalysts for change at work, in business and in the global economy,” she added.

“Today, a significant number of women achievers like us from this region and across the world occupy some of the most important positions, whether in politics or in business. Thus, as we continuously gather and discuss our expanding role in society and find ways by which to tackle the issues and challenges that lie ahead, I am confident that women and businesswomen will surely be able to effect even greater change through this new age of innovation, entrepreneurship and social responsibility.”

Raed Chehaib, CEO Interactive Business Network, said: “The modern woman’s influence on practically all aspects of society can and should no longer be ignored. Their contributions have been extremely positive and significant.

“With their rapidly increasing roles in creating and shaping policy or mapping out growth paths for businesses, it is imperative for women business leaders to have a platform wherein they can share knowledge, expertise and experiences and discuss ways by which they can effectively work together and effect further change for the betterment of our future societies.

An estimated 1,000 participants from 39 countries had taken part in last year’s edition of the forum, which was held under the patronage of HE Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim bin Mohamed al-Thani, Minister of Economy and
Commerce.
