The Qatar Summer Festival (QSF) continues to attract a large number of visitors to its multiple venues that offer a wide range of exciting and fun-filled activities.

Transformed into an Entertainment City, the Doha Exhibition Centre (DEC) has become one of the favourite places of children after school.

The venue hosts numerous games, sports and recreational activities such as skateboarding, basic circus training and wall climbing, among others.

“I usually stay at the food court because it offers a variety of delicious snacks. My daughters love to eat tortilla and crepes after playing at the Ski Slope,” said Melanie David, a mother of two female grade school students. “They like to stay at the Circus school too.”

Karak and chapatti have also become a popular snack among residents because of its suiting taste and combination.

David also plans to bring the whole family at the Qatar National Convention Centre to watch the Disney on Ice’s “Rockin’ Ever After” which will be held from September 24-27.

At the Extreme Adventure Zone, one of the staff at the Circus school told Gulf Times that many of the children they trained have come back to learn more skills.

DEC also features Baraem TV’s 45-minute children show every Friday and Saturday starting at 4:30pm. Another show starts at 8:15pm.

The Entertainment City is open from 3pm to 11pm on weekdays and from 2pm to midnight on weekends. Entry is free but activities are priced between QR5 to QR30.

Unlike the DEC, the Al Khor “Adventure Fun” offers outdoor adventure such as kayaking – another exciting way to spend the weekend away from the busy city.

An average of 30 persons visit Al Thakira (a home for mangroves in Qatar) during weekends to kayak and eat barbeque with colleagues or friends in the evening.

In Al Wakrah, the inflatable Aqua Park has attracted dozens of children for its “Splash Fun” activity in the afternoon.

In a press statement, Summer Festival project manager Mashal Shahbik said they have featured various challenging sports activities that could appeal to people of all ages.

“This festival has proven to be an inclusive one,” he stressed.

While the “Shopping Fun” raffle draw ended on Saturday, the large scale sale continues in many of the retail outlets in selected malls across Doha.
