Qatalum has recently launched its “Physical Fitness Campaign” in a ceremony held at the Qapco Club in Mesaieed Industrial City to promote the value of healthy living.

Spearheaded by the HSE Department and supported by the Communication Department, this second physical campaign was highlighted by basketball, cricket, football, and badminton tournaments. In total, 549 employees from 37 nationalities have participated in the games, which will run until November 28.

Khalid Mohamed Laram, Qatalum’s DCEO, acknowledged the campaign as a “proactive compliment” to Qatar’s National Sports Day.

“The State of Qatar and HH the Emir are very proactive towards the benefits of sport and the National Sports Day has been celebrated to bring awareness and importance of physical activity to the general population. To align with this national agenda, Qatalum created the ‘Physical Fitness Campaign’ with an overwhelming response from its employees,” Laram said.

The event gathered 500 attendees, including the Qatalum Management Team (QMT); employees and family members also took part in the opening ceremony.

The programme kicked-off with a parade of players in their respective Qatalum sports uniforms and was followed by a safety talk by Addi Atta Abboah-Offei, head of HSE. The pledge of sportsmanship was led by Johnny Fernandez, head of Occupational Hygiene.

Deon Earle, HSE Manager, said the campaign embodies the concept of the Qatalum family.

“This shows how Qatalum works as a family - QMT in front, family members on the benches, and employees as players. We are all gathered this afternoon to witness and support this year’s ‘Physical Fitness Campaign,’ not as managers, employees, nor family members, but as one Qatalum family,” Earle said.
