Extension of its Blue Line bus route in West Bay to more areas would be largely beneficial to residents and others coming to offices and other establishments in the area, Mowasalat CEO Khalid al-Hail has said.

While travelling with journalists during the launch of the new service yesterday, he hoped more people would avail of the bus service in the coming days, especially when large-scale construction activities are expected to be launched there as part of the Doha Metro project.

The rerouting of the Blue Line buses facilitates travel to one of the busiest and most crowded zones, which houses offices of the Ministry of Justice, Public Works Authority (Ashghal) and Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa), among others.

The CEO said since the introduction of  the circular services in January, there has been a rise in the number of passengers. He hoped there would be more patronage for the buses, which are offered free of charge, as more construction activities are launched in the area.

The buses, which were introduced on January 15, are run as Blue Line and Red Line services from the Khalifa Tennis Complex and Q-Post headquarters. Each of them connects a large number of offices and ministerial buildings located in the area.

The Blue Line route starting from the tennis complex covers Qatar Sports Club, Dana Club, QP head office, Ministry of Interior, QIIB Tower, Alfardan Towers, Kahramaa, Ashghal, Ministry of Justice, Doha Bank, new convention centre (under construction), City Center Doha, Ooredoo Tower, Hilton Hotel, Retaj al Rayyan Hotel, Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning (MMUP), Ascott Doha, W Doha Hotel, Al Faisal Tower, Qatar Statistics Authority, Qatar Olympic Committee and Ezdan Hotel, among others, while returning to the originating point.

The Red Line service covers Corniche, Al Dafna Park, Sheraton Hotel, Sheraton Park, Ooredoo Tower, Hilton Hotel, Retaj al Rayyan Hotel, Movenpick Hotel, MMUP,  Ascott Doha, W Doha Hotel, Asas South, Bilal Tower, City Center Doha, convention centre, Doha Bank, Doha Tower, Al Bidda Tower and Dubai Towers, while running from the Q-Post office.

One of the two buses would be available at 15-minute intervals from 6am until 8pm.
