Games and activities at the Al Wakrah Splash Fun continue to bring joy and excitement to many visitors during the weekend, an organiser has told Gulf Times.

For QR50, children can swim in an inflatable pool, play football, participate in the obstacle course, do the trampoline or play some ball games with friends from 4pm to 9pm. The fee for adults is QR100 but a 50% off is given to visitors who come from 6.30pm onwards.

“It becomes busy starting from Thursday afternoon and a large number of people come every Friday,” said the superviser in charge of the activities. “They normally wait for the weather to get a little cooler. Come Saturday, it slows down again.”

The Splash Fun is one of the activities organised by Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) for this year’s Summer Festival, which kicked off on August 4.

The supervisor stressed that visitors and families can also take a swim in the beach for free.

“Whether you have money or not, you will enjoy the fun here at Al Wakrah,”
he noted.

Some shops sell cold drinks such as bottled water, smoothies and juices to “beat the summer heat” while small outlets offer popcorn, burgers and sandwiches. Tea and coffee are also available.

The beach football is a big hit among male visitors and the obstacle course is a children’s favourite. Organisers are also mulling to bring games such as beach volleyball.

Another unique outdoor experience that attracts mostly groups and families in Doha is kayaking at Al Thakira, dubbed Adventure Fun in Al Khor.

“It is fun to do kayaking in groups,” said one of the organisers.

The boat ride starts at 1pm and continues until 6pm. Tickets can be bought from the tent outside Al Khor Mall and cost QR250, including a barbeque grill.

People who prefer indoor activities spend their time at the Doha Exhibition Centre for the Family Fun. It hosts a Baraem TV show (every weekend) for children and numerous games for all ages.

QTA has also launched its outdoor exhibition, called the Instagram Summer Market, along the Doha Corniche near the fountain show.
