Chalmin: commitment to safety. RIGHT: The day-long training is held in co-ordination with Mowasalat.

Total E&P Qatar regularly conducts mandatory defensive driving courses for all its employees as part of its commitment to safety, the company has said in a statement.

The day-long training, held in co-ordination with Mowasalat, focuses on safe road behaviour and accident prevention.

Defensive driving enables motorists to identify hazards and, through both theory and practical sessions, the participants learn how to reduce driving risks, anticipate situations and make safe, well-informed decisions.

“At Total, we continuously raise the awareness of all employees on safety issues at work, home or in the present case - on roads. These driving courses are one example, among many others, underlining our commitment to build a safety culture at Total,” said Guillaume Chalmin, managing director of Total E&P Qatar and Group Representative.

“Building a safety culture means that we want each employee to be convinced that safety depends first of all on his or her individual behaviour each and every day of the year,” he said.

Total has had a continuous presence in Qatar since 1936 and is the only international oil company active in all branches of Qatar’s oil and gas sector, the statement adds. This includes exploration and production, refining and petrochemicals and the marketing of lubricants.
