Some 250 healthcare professionals are to participate in a training-workshop on preparedness to deal with epidemics and medical procedures for the Haj. It will be held on Saturday at the W Hotel Doha.

The workshop will tackle health requirements for the Haj season and the list of vaccines to pilgrims. It will also discuss readiness to launch an immunisation campaign against diseases.

Participants include medical services staff of Qatar Petroleum, Qatar Airways, clinics of the Armed Forces, police, private hospitals and clinics.

The workshop signals the start of a series of expanded training programmes for all healthcare providers. It aims to raise the skills of participants in addressing issues of epidemics such as influenza, the new corona virus which causes the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome and Ebola virus.

The activity is organised by the Supreme Council of Health in co-ordination with the Hamad Medical Corporation, the Primary Health Care Corporation and the medical unit accompanying Qatar’s Haj mission.
