The Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC) detected 33 violations during a surprise inspection campaign carried out at shops in the Souq area.

The inspection covered commercial establishments in Souq Al Jaber, Souq Al Deira and Souq Al Watan. Notices and violation records were issued accordingly.

The violations detected include starting and conducting a business without licence, absence of valid licence, doing business without fulfilling the stipulated licence conditions, using a shop as a house, exhibiting goods in front of a shop and absence of a signboard.

The inspection campaigns conducted by the MEC’s department of registration and commercial licences are part of the work done by the ministry to organise and monitor markets.

The MEC has urged all consumers to inform the Consumer Protection Department, which receives complaints, proposals and enquiries, about any violations. This can be done by calling 40122295 or sending an e-mail to [email protected]
