The Qatar Charity (QC) and the Foundation for Human Rights and Freedoms and Humanitarian Relief (IHH) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to meet humanitarian obligations such as the United Nations Millennium Development Goals and other international initiatives.

The agreement, signed by QC chief executive officer Yousef bin Ahmad al-Kuwari and IHH president Fahmi Bulent Yeldrim, also aims to strengthen ties and to promote co-operation between the two organisations.

The MoU also calls for the implementation of immediate, medium, and long-term joint humanitarian goals and to rationalise the use of their resources to achieve “maximum impact.”

The officials agreed that there is a need to intensify the co-operation between the two agencies due to humanitarian crises and widespread poverty, and to address the United Nations Millennium Goals and other international initiatives.

Both the QC and IHH believe that exchanging expertise and information would help in the integration of their roles and interventions, and maximise mutual benefit and support for their projects.

The MoU, it was stressed, “does not mean any kind of merger between QC and IHH” but emphasises the independence of each party by focusing on integration, harmony, and synergy to provide better service to its beneficiaries.

After the signing of the agreement, the two officials discussed other important potential joint initiatives that could be signed in the future.

They also agreed to hold a two-day workshop in the next couple of months for professionals from both agencies to discuss and prepare a joint-action plan based on the framework of the MoU.
