The Entertainment City set up at the Doha Exhibition Centre (DEC) has become a favourite destination for many families this summer, with especially children enjoying the fun-filled and exciting activities.

Pranav, who has just finished his Grade 3, wants to spend the remaining weekends at the DEC before the re-opening of his school. He loves to play remote-controlled cars and join training sessions at the skate park.

“I only got one yellow card,” he said, trying to convey that he performed well against other players on the platform. He was accompanied by his older sister, parents and grandfather who come from New Delhi.

Monica, Pranav’s mother who works at a bank in Doha, lauded the activities at the DEC, saying “the concept is really amazing and children learn new stuff from the circus lessons, biking and skateboarding.”

With the searing temperature and high humidity during the day, Monica said she prefers to stay at the Entertainment City with Pranav and her whole family.

The Entertainment City hosts six zones: the interactive sports, summer freeze, extreme adventure, kids’ zone, food court and the stage for the Baraem TV show.

Qatar Tourism Authority has also brought in some activities that promote an active and healthy lifestyle.

Other “adventures” such as the “high ropes” also continue to attract 12- year-old and above, giving those who are afraid of heights another challenging experience.

Wall-climbing and activities at the freeze zone such as ski slope and ski tube are also a big hit among all ages.

The kid’s zone remains to be one of the most crowded areas. It houses an inflatable playground, small bikes, an area for balloon making and a lot more.

One of the organisers said they are expecting a large number of people to visit all Qatar Summer Festival venues in the country, as well as malls, this weekend.

Malls in various parts of Qatar have recently started the “Shopping Fun” which offers various cash prizes and Audi cars.

The raffle draws will be held every Saturday between 7:30pm and 8:30pm at the specified outlets. The first draw is today at Hyatt Plaza mall, followed by the second draw at City Center Doha on August 30. The third draw will be on September 6 at Dar Al Salam Mall before going to The Pearl-Qatar on September 13.
