‘Oil change’ move irks motorists

A section of motorists and owners of small automobile workshops has spoken out against the decision not to allow oil change operations in residential and commercial areas, local Arabic daily Arrayah has reported.

They have urged the authorities concerned to reconsider the decision, it adds.

While vehicle owners say the decision forces them to change oil at fuel stations or company service centres at a higher cost, workshop owners argue that the move will lead to financial losses.

Workshop owners, meanwhile, said the decision would result in a considerable loss of income.

Social media abuzz with boycott calls

Calls for boycotting the products of companies which belong to countries that support Israel have increased on social media, local Arabic daily Arrayah reported yesterday.

Many locals as well as expatriates see such a boycott as an effective step in voicing their support for the people of Gaza.

People should be able to identify such companies and avoid buying their products, it has been suggested. Instead, they should encourage Arab companies whenever possible, those in favour of such a boycott say.
