The Central Municipal Council (CMC) chairman Saoud al-Hinzab received yesterday the Kuwaiti ambassador to Qatar Metaab Saleh Fahd al-Mutautah at the CMC headquarters.

They discussed ways of enhancing co-operation between CMC and Kuwaiti Municipal bodies.

Al-Hinzab briefed the ambassador on the duties of CMC and its operation mechanism. He also told him about how CMC members maintain constant communication with the residents at their respective constituencies and government officials to resolve the issues that fall in their jurisdiction.

“The council has 29 different constituencies that cover all Qatar, represented by 29 elected members through direct secret voting process. It is the first house of democracy in the country,” said al-Hinzab.

He further pointed out that CMC members are keen to involve citizens in their actions and the council issues its recommendations based the public demands of people. In addition, the council regularly invites school students, media members and local officials to attend its public sessions and see closely how the discussions are conducted.

The Kuwaiti ambassador said that he is looking forward for more co-operation between the two friendly counties in municipal services.
