HE the Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage Dr Hamad bin Abdul Aziz al-Kuwari stressed the importance of culture in Qatar National Vision 2030 and the Development Strategy 2011-2016, as well as Qatar’s deep belief in the positive impact of culture on the overall relations among nations.

In his keynote speech during the second conference of Edinburgh International Culture Summit (EICS), currently underway in here, with the participation of more than 100 countries, Dr al-Kuwari said mutual knowledge among cultures generates a common understanding that achieves peaceful relationships between peoples and lays foundations for relationships based on common interests.

Al-Kuwari noted that Qatar has seen a cultural development since Doha was chosen the Capital of Arab Culture in 2010. It has become a hub of cultures and civilisations of all countries and a beacon from which lofty ideas calling for realisation of peace and communication among nations and peoples were launched.

He pointed out that the challenges the countries are facing at all levels, have made it incumbent on everyone to cope with the international developments and to have the capacity to contribute to formulating the future and contributing to the humanity’s civilisational structure, noting that change towards development and progress and keeping pace with civilisation requires the spread of culture.
