A survey has revealed that 90% of students in Qatar responded well to an e-Learning platform, which they said had improved their interaction with teachers.

The survey was part of the Connected Learning Gateway (CLG) programme, a learning management platform deployed by 40 schools in Qatar through collaboration between ITWORX Education and the
Supreme Education Council (SEC).

According to the survey, 90% of students found that e-Learning improved their interaction with teachers while 93% said the programme provided easy access to learning content. Another 78% of the respondents said e-Learning increased students’ creativity.

The survey was conducted in March 2014 across 40 Qatari schools following the implementation of the CLG, a social learning management system that was designed to enhance the teaching process for teachers.

The CLG was also designed to make learning “fun and insightful” for K-12 students and facilitate communication and collaboration between students, school administrators, teachers, and parents.

Hatem Sallam, chief executive officer, ITWORX Education, said the country is “making big leaps” in adopting e-Learning in schools in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030.

Education is part of the four pillars of the Qatar National Vision 2030 under “human development,” which aspires for “a world-class educational system that equips citizens to achieve their aspirations and to meet the needs of Qatar’s society.”

This includes, among others, “education curricula and training programmes responding to the current and future needs of the labour market, high quality educational and training opportunities appropriate to each individual’s aspirations and abilities, and accessible educational programmes for life-long learning.”

Sallam also expressed the company’s commitment to support SEC’s initiatives, as well as Qatar’s transition to e-Learning.

For its e-Learning programme, SEC aims to “increase positive trend and to raise community awareness on Information Communications Technology and its impact on both of the teaching and learning process, and to be a leader in the educational system by increasing the efficiency and quality of education, among others.

Sallam noted that ITWORX was recently recognised with an award from Microsoft as “Worldwide Public Sector Partner of the Year for Education.”

He stressed that the recognition did not only highlight the company’s focus on providing global education solutions but has allowed ITWORX to expand its footprint in Qatar and assist in the transformation of the country’s e-Learning programmes.

“This award acknowledges ITWORX Education’s powerful impact in the transformation of education and commitment towards providing cutting edge e-Learning solutions in Qatar and beyond,” Sallam added.
