The Supreme Council of Health (SCH) has introduced amendments to the national immunisation schedule, local Arabic daily Al Sharq has reported.

The new amendments specify that the oral polio vaccine, five-in-one vaccine (tetanus/diphtheria/pertussis - whooping cough/Hib/polio), pneumococcal 1 vaccine and rotavirus 1 vaccine are to be given to children who are two months old, the report states.

Also, the oral polio vaccine, six-in-one vaccine (diphtheria/tetanus/pertussis/polio/Hib/Hepatitis B), pneumococcal 2 vaccine and rotavirus 2 vaccine have to be given to children who are four months old, it adds.

The SCH has asked all health establishments that provide immunisation services in the State to incorporate these changes in their vaccination schedules, as approved by the department of health and communicable diseases in the council.

Further, the SCH has said no changes have been made to the schedules of other vaccines, the report states.
