Minister of Culture meets French ambassador

HE the Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage Dr Hamad bin Abdul Aziz al-Kuwari met the outgoing French Ambassador to Doha Jean-Christophe Possel in Doha yesterday. They reviewed aspects of cultural co-operation and means of developing it.

 

Advanced chest exam for children on the cards

A source in Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) has highlighted the use of a modern method, called the Lung Clearance Index (LCI), for accurate chest examination of children at Hamad hospital, local Arabic daily Arrayah has reported.

This method will be used after the Eid al-Fitr holidays, he adds. The LCI helps focus on the early discovery of health problems in children, according to the source. It can also be used for older people, but its benefits are greater for children, the report states.

The source said the Hamad hospital children’s unit at features the most modern equipment to diagnose asthma and specify treatment methods, the report adds.

 

Motorist fined for hitting pedestrian

A Doha Criminal Court has fined an expatriate motorist QR10,000 for knocking down a pedestrian in the Industrial Area, local Arabic daily Arrayah reported yesterday.

Due to his carelessness, the accused rammed his car into the pedestrian while he was crossing a road. The pedestrian sustained severe injuries in the accident, according to the report.

The accused admitted to his fault during both the police investigation and the court hearing, and was accordingly penalised, the report adds.
