HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani yesterday held separate talks with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and the Norwegian Foreign Minister Borge Brende on the developments in Palestinian territories, especially the continuing Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip.

During the talks session, which was held at Al-Bahr Palace, President Abbas briefed the Emir on the latest developments in Palestinian territories and the outcomes of the efforts to end the Israeli crimes against the innocent Palestinian people.

The Emir reiterated the firm stance of the State of Qatar in support of the Palestinian people. He also stressed the importance of making every effort to make the international powers shoulder their responsibility against the Israeli military attacks that target innocent civilians.

The two sides also discussed the Qatari diplomatic endeavours with the leaders and heads of state with the aim of immediately stopping Israeli escalation and the ‘genocide’ by Israel in the Gaza Strip.

Later the Emir hosted an Iftar banquet in honour of the Palestinian president. 

HH the Emir and the UN chief reviewed the latest developments in Palestine, especially in the Gaza Strip. 

The UN chief briefed the Emir on the organisation’s efforts to implement a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. 

The Emir noted the importance of a swift international action to stop the war crimes being committed by Israel against the Palestinians.

The Emir also stressed the importance of the international community shouldering its ethical and legal responsibilities to end the unjust siege imposed on the Gaza Strip and to enable the Palestinian people to live in dignity and to provide protection for them. 

The Emir warned that the international community’s failure to put an end to Israeli crimes would result in serious humanitarian consequences.

In his meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Norway Borge Brende and his accompanying delegation, at Al Bahr Palace yesterday, the latest developments on the Palestinian arena, especially the situation in Gaza and the efforts to stop the brutal Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people were discussed.

Ways to arrive at a just and lasting solution to the Palestinian issue in and to ensure the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people were also reviewed.
