A permanent joint committee to oversee the National Sport Day is to be formed as per a decision issued by HE the Minister of Youth and Sports Salah bin Ghanem bin Nasser al-Ali on Saturday.

The committee will be chaired by a representative of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and have as members representatives from the ministries of Interior, Finance, Education and Higher Education and Public Health in addition to officials from Qatar Olympic Committee, and Aspire Zone.

The committee is concerned with the co-ordination between the authorities in the planning, processing and preparation of the Sport Day as well as the communication and co-ordination with the government institutions, and public and private bodies to organise activities and events throughout Qatar.

The committee shall also receive proposals from public and private entities in the State, study them and give appropriate opinion on proposed activities for the Sport Day, while providing the necessary support to those participating in the day through the provision of government and private sports facilities according to priority reservation and committee’s plans.

The committee shall, in co-ordination with all relevant participating public and private institutions in the State, develop a website, compile a unified database of all the activities and events held in the state and carry out media awareness of the Sport Day.

The Minister of Youth and Sports issued a decision commissioning the director of Sports Affairs at the Ministry, Abdul Rahman al-Dosari, to chair the joint committee on the National Sport Day.
