Ooredoo staff celebrated the successes of the year at its annual Ghabga held in Katara.

The social gathering brought Ooredoo employees together to share the spirit of the holy month of Ramadan.

Ooredoo has achieved several milestones this year as it continues to expand its network nationally and internationally.

It was the first company to launch 4G services in Qatar, has become a regional leader in fibre services, with more than 150,000 customers connected, and has developed a host of new business services to help small and medium enterprises, the company has said in a statement.

On the international stage, Ooredoo is on track to support more than 100mn customers across its global markets in the coming months, making it one of the top global communications brands, the statement adds.

Speaking at the event, Ooredoo chairman HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohamed bin Saud al-Thani said: “Our annual Ghabga gives us an opportunity to come together as a company and it’s great to be able to thank the team responsible for taking Ooredoo to new heights. Our success stems from our people and their commitment to enriching lives across Qatar and the wider world.

“When we launched Ooredoo, we said our aim was to be a top 100 global brand. We are well on the way to achieving that ambition.”

Ooredoo has achieved major milestones in 2014, including hitting the target of more than 3mn consolidated customers in Qatar, becoming the data market leader with the launch of an enhanced range of Ooredoo 4G LTE services, and taking the lead in business solutions.

Ooredoo has also been lauded for its customer service, with awards for Customer Experience Management and Implementation, Customer Care and Big Data Initiatives.

The Ooredoo brand has received global attention in recent weeks thanks to its “Simply Do Wonders” commercial, which ran throughout the FIFA World Cup in Brazil. The online version of the advertisement, which stars football icon Leo Messi, has now recorded more than 11mn views.

Ooredoo’s Alrabaa were also present at the Ghabga event, delighting and entertaining guests. As part of the #DaysOfJoy campaign launched for Ramadan this year, the seven friends have been taking part in a wide range of community events and charity initiatives, including hospital visits, children’s activities and random acts of kindness.
