Qatar Fuel (Woqod) held an honouring ceremony for HE Abdullah bin Hamad al-Attiyah, chairman of the Administrative Control and Transparency Authority and former chairman of Woqod, and Mohamed Khalifa Turki al-Sobai, former vice-chairman and managing director of Woqod, for their efforts while in office.

The ceremony was attended by HE Dr Mohamed bin Saleh al-Sada, the Minister of Energy and Industry and chairman of Qatar Petroleum, and HE Dr Mohamed Abdul Wahed Ali al-Hammadi, the Minister of Education and Higher Education and former Woqod board member.

Other dignitaries, including Abdulaziz bin Ahmed al-Maliki, director, office of the chairman of the Administrative Control and Transparency Authority; Nasser al-Jaidah, CEO of Qatar Petroleum International; Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman al-Thani, chairman of Woqod; Hussein Mohamed al-Ishaq, vice-chairman of Woqod; Ibrahim Jaham al-Kuwari, CEO of Woqod; and members of Woqod’s board of directors in addition to public officials and employees of the company, also attended the ceremony.

The ceremony commemorated the achievements of Woqod in the past 11 years under the leadership and guidance of the former chairman and former vice-chairman and managing director.

During this period, the company rose to be among the leading regional companies in the field of downstream oil storage, distribution and marketing, maintaining a place among the top companies on Qatar Exchange with high profits and return rates, while also expanding its network of stations, developing safe products of international quality standards and providing quality services across its various areas of operation.

In turn, the attendees gave statements on the years they had spent working under the leadership of the former chairman and former vice-chairman and managing director, recalling their guidance and support to the staff of Woqod and its subsidiaries for more than a decade.

The ceremony was concluded with Sheikh Saoud presenting HE al-Attiyah and al-Sobai with honorary trophies as a symbolic gesture to express the gratitude owed by Woqod and its employees to the efforts made by them during their long and successful career at the company.
