A “minor” fire broke out yesterday at the Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar (WCMCQ). Students, staff and others who were present on the campus were evacuated immediately.

No-one was injured, sources told this newspaper.

The fire, which was noticed around 3pm at one of the balconies on the first floor of the building, was brought under control by firefighters quickly. The  cause of the fire could not be ascertained. A number of ambulances, water tankers and Ministry of Interior (MoI) vehicles were seen at the site.

Apparently, only minimal damage has been reported to the complex.
