Several passengers were stranded in Doha as Air India Express flights to Mumbai and Kozikode were delayed for almost a day for the last two days (Saturday and Sunday).

The Kozikode-bound Air India Express scheduled for Saturday evening, left Doha yesterday around 6.20pm. Airline officials said the delay was because the aircraft had developed technical glitch after it landed in Bahrain on Saturday and could not reach Doha on time.

However, many passengers had spent hours at the Hamad International Airport waiting for the flight and were finally told late in the evening that the flight has been rescheduled for Sunday (yesterday) 4pm. While many of the passengers were accommodated in hotels, several others went back to their accommodations.

Yesterday, the flight was delayed by another two hours and ultimately the passengers could board the plane around 6pm.

Meanwhile, a Mumbai-bound Air India Express was grounded in Doha due to a technical snag. The flight, IX 244, with 110 passengers on board, was scheduled to take off from Doha at 5.55pm, but it got delayed due to the glitch.

Nitan Paul, Air India Express country manger, Qatar said that the aircraft bound for Mumbai developed some technical problems and was delayed indefinitely.

“The Mumbai flight will leave only tomorrow (Monday) and all the passengers have been shifted to hotels. Once the problem is solved we will inform the passengers the departure schedule. We hope that the schedules will be on track from Monday.”
