A large number of people, including kids in heritage and colourful dresses, turned up for the Garangao celebration at the Aspire Fanzone yesterday (pictured). The Garangao celebrations are set to culminate tonight, marking a long-standing heritage of the country and the GGC region. “It is a delightful festive night when people come together to revive the heritage and traditions of old generations and relive them with youngsters in a warm and loving atmosphere,” said an elderly local man. Families buy large amounts of sweets, candies and nuts to be given out to children in the neighbourhood on this occasion. The kids collect the sweets in bags, singing folk songs and dressed in special attires. A number of organisations also hold special celebrations to mark the occasion. PICTURES: Jayaram
