Emir, UN chief discuss plight of Palestinian people
HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani held a telephone conversation with United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon yesterday.
They discussed the plight of the Palestinian people following Israel’s military offensive against civilians.
The Emir called on the international community to act in order to stop the aggression against the Palestinian people and the siege on Gaza Strip.
FM receives phone call from Kerry
HE the Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Khalid bin Mohamed al-Attiyah yesterday received a phone call from US Secretary of State John Kerry.
They exchanged views on the latest developments in the region.
Qatar-Niger ties reviewed
President of Niger Mahamadou Issoufou met HE the Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Khalid bin Mohamed al-Attiyah in Niamey yesterday.
Dr al-Attiyah conveyed the greetings of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani to President Issoufou.
President Issoufou reciprocated the Emir’s greetings.
During talks held on the occasion, they reviewed with relations between Qatar and Niger and discussed ways to strengthen them and exchanged views on issues of common interest.
Dr al-Attiyah also met also during his visit to Niger with the country’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Co-operation and African Integration Mohamed Bazum.
Talks held with top Nato official
Qatar’s Ambassador to the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (Nato) Sheikh Ali bin Jassim al-Thani met Nato’s Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and Security Policy Ambassador Thrasyvoulos Terry Stamatopoulos in Brussels yesterday.
Talks during the meeting dealt with partnership between Qatar and Nato. They also exchanged views on matters of mutual concern and areas of co-operation between the two sides and means of developing them.
The situation in the Mediterranean region also featured in the talks.
Defence Minister in Belarus talks
Belarusian Defence Minister Lt Gen Yuri Zhadobin met HE the Minister of State for Defence Affairs Major General Hamad bin Ali al-Attiyah, currently on a visit to Belarus.
During the meeting, they reviewed aspects of co-operation between Qatar and Belarus and means of enhancing and developing them, particularly in the military affairs.
HE Saud Abdullah al-Mahmoud, Qatar’s non-resident ambassador to Belarus, attended the meeting along with members of the official delegation accompanying HE al-Attiyah.
