Vodafone has launched a mobile phone trade-in service making it the first operator in Qatar to offer the service.

Customers can bring their used phone to any of Vodafone’s 23 retail stores and with the instant value given they can trade it in for anything in store. This includes new devices, accessories, prepaid credit or postpaid bill payment for Vodafone customers.

Other customers can trade in for new devices and accessories. The transaction happens simultaneously to ensure the customer can use the buy-back value immediately.

A Vodafone Qatar spokesperson said, “We are  delighted to launch Vodafone trade-in service, which comes at the same time as the recent launch of Vodafone 4G making it a great opportunity for customers to upgrade to a 4G enabled device and enjoy the latest Ramadan series with Go by OSN for Vodafone 4G Customers.”

Even before customers come into Vodafone stores, they will be able to check their mobile’s value online on Vodafone’s website www.vodafone.qa/trade-in. This way, customers can trade in their device when they feel that they are happy with the price.

Vodafone’s ‘Online Checker’ evaluates a phone price using a global and local platform, which checks market prices based on age and popularity of make and model, and three checks- 1. Does it power on? 2. Is the screen cracked or broken? 3. Is anything else on the handset missing/broken?

For example prices that Vodafone currently offers customers for their used iPhone 5 (16GB) is QR875 and for a Samsung S4 (16GB) QR645.

Trading in with Vodafone is “worry free”, customers do not need to bring their phone box, chargers or ear phones – only the phone and battery is enough.

Moreover, there is 100% data security as Vodafone performs full industrial data wiping before the phone is resold. This process is also eco-friendly as all the phones that are traded in are refurbished or recycled.
