Outlets selling cosmetic products closed for misrepresentation

The Consumer Protection Department, represented by the commercial fraud combat section, has closed several outlets and a warehouse of Khan Al-Saboun following the detection of fraudulent practices, local Arabic daily Arrayah has reported.

The matter came to light after inspectors of the section seized samples of cosmetic products sold in the company’s main shop and in outlets at malls to verify their components, the report states.

The samples were sent for testing, which revealed that the contents of the products were not identical to the specifications mentioned for each item. Further, the products were found to be containing components that might cause cancer and skin disease, according to the report.

Accordingly, it was decided to close the main outlet of Khan Al-Saboun, its branches and a warehouse, and seize all products found there, the report adds.
