Qatar Charity’s popular Ramadan programme, Al-Baraha, was launched at The Pearl-Qatar on Friday evening.

The programme features three main venues - a main hall for religious lectures and competitions, another for families and children and a third comprising restaurants and stalls for participants.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by QC chairman Yusuf bin Ahmed al-Kuwari and other senior QC officials and representatives.

The initiative mainly aims to provide families with entertainment during the evening in the holy month.  A religious lecture was delivered on the first night by Muslim scholar Tariq al-Swaydan on “Ramadan, the month of change.”

A quiz competition was also conducted, with 20 winners being given prizes such as iPhones and iPads.

Al-Baraha, which aims to cover around 1,000 Qatari families at The Pearl-Qatar, will continue until Ramadan 19. Other locations for similar programmes include Al Khor and Al Shahaniyah.

There is also the Al-Baraha programme for expatriate families in Doha. There is a special focus on children and families during such programmes, which run from 9pm until 11pm, to let them make the most of the holy month.
