The Embassy of India has announced the 2014-15 scholarship programme for the diaspora children. The  Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs, Government of India had launched a scheme called the “Scholarship Programme for Diaspora Children” (SPDC) in 2006 -07, to assist children of Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) and Non-Resident Indian (NRIs) in pursuing under graduate courses in several disciplines in India.Hundred scholarships are being offered for undergraduate courses in several disciplines including engineering, architecture, technology, humanities, commerce, management (BBA/BBM), journalism among others. Security monitoring room opens at CID

Criminal Investigation Department (CID) director Colonel Jamal al-Ka’abi has announced the establishment of an advanced operations room, local Arabic daily Al Sharq has reported.

The security monitoring room will help provide information and communications support to security personnel in the CID and other security departments.

In a statement to the police magazine, Colonel al-Ka’abi said the purpose of the security monitoring room is to provide information to security personnel on any related incident in the State. Further, he stressed that the CID is playing an important role in combating the menace of begging through intensive patrolling by security personnel throughout the day, the report added.

 

Indian embassy launches new website

The Indian Embassy has launched a new website:  www.indianembassyqatar.gov.in.

The “informative and user-friendly” website is being run in partnership with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). 

A statement issued by the mission said efforts are underway to make certain changes in the contents of the new website.

“The Embassy attaches very high priority to continuously upgrading its website and would welcome feedback and suggestions in this regard,” the statement added.
