HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani have sent cables of congratulations to President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi on being sworn in as the new president of Egypt.
HH the Emir and HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister also sent cables of congratulations to President Petro Poroshenko on being sworn in as president of Ukraine.
Emir issues decrees
HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani issued the following decrees yesterday:
1. Decree No 24 of 2014 ratifying the co-operation agreement in security affairs between Qatar and Spain, which was signed in Madrid on 26/04/2011. The agreement shall have the force of law in accordance with Article 68 of the Constitution.
2. Decree No 25 of 2014 ratifying a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the field of education, higher education and scientific research between the governments of Qatar and Peru, which was signed in Lima on 14/02/2013. The MoU shall have the force of law in accordance with Article 68 of the Constitution.
3. Decree No 26 of 2014 ratifying an air transport agreement between the governments of Qatar and Portugal, which was signed in Doha on 28/05/2012. The agreement shall have the force of law in accordance with Article 68 of the Constitution.
4. Decree No 27 of 2014 ratifying an agreement between the governments of Qatar and Portugal on the avoidance of double taxation, and prevention of fiscal evasion with regard to income tax, and the protocol and MOU annexed to it, which were signed in Doha on 12/12/2011. The agreement shall have the force of law in accordance with Article 68 of the Constitution.
Cabinet decision ratified
HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani yesterday ratified the Cabinet Decisions No 29 and 30 of 2014 expropriating certain real estates for the public benefit.
Law on building norms amended
HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani yesterday issued the Law No. 8 for 2014 amending some of the provisions of the Law No. 4 of 1985 on Building Regulations.
Emiri decision on awards amount
HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani yesterday issued the Emiri Decision No 54 of 2014 amending the amounts of the State Awards of Appreciation and Encouragement in Science, Arts and Literature.
Emiri law issued on GCC trademarks
HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani yesterday issued Emiri Law No 7 of 2014 promulgating the Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) Trademarks Law.
The law shall be effective within six months from the date of the adoption by the Trade Co-operation Committee of the attached law and is to be published in the official gazette.
Inflation rates rise across GCC
Inflation rates increased across the GCC region between 1.53% and 2.8% over a 12-month period through April 2014, latest reports released by the Statistical Centre for the GCC countries show.
Qatar topped the list with an inflation rate of 2.8% for the same period, followed by Kuwait with 2.72%, Saudi Arabia with 2.7%, the UAE with 2.12%, Bahrain with 1.9%, and Oman with 1.53%, Gulf News daily reported yesterday.
