Workers’ housing destroyed in fire

Two accommodations belonging to a contracting company located near the petrol station along the under-construction East West corridor in Ruweida have been destroyed in a major fire that broke out in the wee hours of Wednesday.
Sources told this newspaper that although the accommodations housed scores of workers, no one was hurt in the fire.
The sources said that the timely arrival of the firefighting units helped prevent the fire from spreading to other buildings in the area, one of which housed a printing press.
The cause of the fire is not known.
