A delegation of the Central Municipal Council (CMC) is taking part in the World Cities Summit (WCS) 2014 being held in Singapore.
The delegation is headed by CMC member Dr Mohamed al-Mislimani, who stressed the importance of the summit as a good opportunity for exchange of expertise.
The summit, which ends today, discussed various issues such as modern ways for urban planning, smart management systems, use of eco-friendly materials in city buildings, and the sophisticated systems for safety and security.
Representatives of some 150 different cities around the world are taking part in the summit besides organisations dealing with challenges facing modern cities and how to make them a better place for living.
WCS is a global platform where governments, corporations and individuals meet to share ideas and solutions that could make cities more livable and sustainable.
The theme of this year’s edition is “Liveable and Sustainable Cities: Common Challenges, Shared Solutions.” It is being held in conjunction with the Singapore International Water Week and Clean Environment Summit Singapore.
CMC chairman Saud al-Hinzab said that the council is very keen to take part and play an active role in such world events to enhance its performance and open up the way for better development opportunities in the country.
