The weekly Cabinet meeting, chaired by HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani yesterday approved a draft law amending some provisions of Law No 8 of 1979 concerning press and publications.

A draft decision of the Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage fixing the licence fees of activities subject to law No 8 of 1979 concerning press and publications was also approved.

The Cabinet also approved a draft decision amending some of the administrative units of which the Ministry of Finance is composed and fixing their functions.

According to the provisions of the draft decision, a new department, called “The public projects organisation department”, is to be added to the organising structure of the Finance Ministry and is to be allocated for regulating the public investment and non-investment projects to all organs whose budgets are financed on part of the state. 

The Cabinet also approved the amendment of some provisions of Law No 2 of 2011 concerning the official statistics.

The Cabinet draft decision exempting Al Bayader Qatar Company from income tax for a one year-period was also approved.  Al Bayader, located in the New Industrial Area, is dealing in catering business.

The Cabinet also approved to exempt Qatar Airways from all governmental and rent fees at Doha International Airport for one year as of 1/8/2014.

A proposal of the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs for hosting the 4th GCC Social Labour Festival in Doha on 13 to 23 November, 2014 was also approved.

The Cabinet then reviewed a draft law amending some provisions of Law No 26 of 2005 for issuing a law organising tenders and biddings and took note of the Advisory Council’s related recommendation on the draft law and adopted the appropriate decision.

The Cabinet took the necessary measures for ratifying the educational and scientific co-operation accord struck between the governments of Qatar and Belarus.

A memorandum of understanding in health, veterinary and livestock production between the Environment Ministry of Qatar and the Ministry of Agriculture in Georgia was also approved.
