More than 100 companies from Qatar and outside are taking part in the Qatar ICT Conference and Exhibition (Qitcom 2014) starting at the Qatar National Convention Center on May 26.

Qitcom project leader Renal Shaaban said a number of subject experts and technical professionals from across the world are among the key speakers gathering for the sessions to be held as part of the exhibition.

Besides making their presentations the delegates will also attend the discussions on the growing opportunities in the local construction and infrastructure projects, said Shabaan, adding that the organisers expect around 11,000 visitors during the three-day expo.

“There are many factors paving the way for major regional and global ICT companies to participate and benefit from numerous opportunities that the local market offers as the expo will provide unlimited chances for the participants and visitors to establish projects that are in line with the requirements of the country,” she said.

ICTQatar’s Qitcom steering committee chairman Hussain Salat said Qitcom comes as part of the Ministry of Information’s efforts to support Qatar’s development across all economic sectors due to the ability of the ICT to make radical changes.

The event also promotes different aspects of sustainable development in accordance with Qatar’s National Vision that aims to boost the role of non-oil sectors.

The official said as part of the event the organisers are holding activities such as an Innovation Theatre, which consists of competitions for young emerging entrepreneurs and talented students, besides introducing the ministry’s new initiatives and programmes.

fischerAppelt Qatar general manager David Schopper said  Qitcom is an incentive for the development of Qatar’s ICT sector and an exceptional platform that brings together companies, providers, investors and end users.
