HE the Minister of Environment Ahmed Amer Mohamed al-Humaidi  and Moroccan High Commissioner for Water, Forests and Desertification Dr Abdel Azim al-Hilfi exchanging documents after signing the agreement in Doha yesterday.

The Ministry of Environment and Morocco’s High Commission for Water and Forests and the Fight against Desertification yesterday signed an agreement on the conservation of biodiversity and wildlife and their habitats. 

The agreement was signed by HE the Minister of Environment Ahmed Amer Mohamed al-Humaidi  and Moroccan High Commissioner for Water, Forests and Desertification Dr Abdel Azim al-Hilfi  in the presence of the Ambassador of Morocco to Qatar Al Makki Kwan and a number of senior officials of the Ministry of Environment .

Speaking at the signing ceremony, HE al-Humaidi the excellent bilateral relations between Qatar and Morocco reflected the keenness of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and King of Morocco Mohamed VI to boosting them in various fields.

In this context, the minister also referred to the role played by HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani in strengthening the relations between the two countries.

The Minister of Environment said:  “We are aspiring through the signing of this agreement to enhance co-operation between the two countries in order to achieve maximum environmental sustainability and development of natural resources via consultation, the exchange of experiences and development of human resources and exchange of visits between the officials of the Ministry of Environment and Morocco’s High Commission for Water and Forests and the Fight against Desertification.”

Dr Abdel Azim al-Hilfi said the agreement is the result of improved relations between the two countries under the auspices of HH the Emir and the King of Morocco. He said by signing the agreement, the two countries had formulated appropriate framework to activate efforts in this vital area to attain the sustainable development in the two countries.
