The Facility Management Qatar (FMQ) Summit 2014 will be held in Doha on May 7.
Now in its third year, the summit is being hosted by Facility Management Qatar (FMQ) under the patronage of the Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning.
FMQ was founded by the MJR Group in 2012 as an all-encompassing knowledge-sharing and networking platform for facility management professionals in Qatar. FMQ has been a good first step in uniting Qatar’s key building owners, investors, architects, engineers, construction experts, developers, building material specialists and facility management companies.
This year’s summit is poised to be the biggest and most comprehensive meeting of FM professionals so far. Last year, the summit attracted nearly 170 delegates and the numbers are expected to rise this year.
Participants will include owners, operators and investors of properties, architects and engineers, real estate developers, construction companies, professional service providers, building material specialists, city councils, municipalities and regional agencies, related associations and industry bodies.
The main theme of the third FMQ Summit will be “Owners drive the change in FM.” The participants will deliberate on the subject while enumerating a range of case studies. The topics for the case studies will cover the significance of FM in sports venues, telecommunications, museum and heritage development, airports and educational institutions among others.
The sessions will also highlight the importance of education and standards and technology for the FM sector in Qatar and the green initiative being led by the Qatar Green Building Council.
Also, a variety of subjects related to Facility Management will be discussed to assess the trend in the industry. These will include the role of Building Information Modelling, energy and waste management, fire safety and security, a comparative study of property management and facility management.
The sessions will cover a gamut of technical and management inputs towards sustainable FM planning and optimisation of processes and life-cycle costs.
Alongside the summit programme, FMQ 2014 will incorporate a compact mini-exhibition of specially-selected FM companies, product and service suppliers in the designated area titled “The Plaza.”
