Al Meera Bookstore Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of Al Meera Consumer Goods Company, has opened three WHSmith stores: at Hyatt Plaza in Al Aziziya, Ezdan Mall in Gharafa, and Nuaija Mall in Al Hilal.

Al Meera Bookstore Company is the franchise owner of the WHSmith brand, a leading bookstore chain in the UK, in Qatar.

The new stores offer an array of new and popular releases of classic and bestselling books.

The stores will also include gifts, school items, stationery, and high-quality college supplies.

In addition, the WHSmith Nuaija branch provides a calm and relaxing atmosphere at the WHSmith café.

Qatar is working hard to encourage a reading culture among Qataris, hosting academic lectures and seminars related to this field. No effort is being spared to make reading an important component of society.

“Al Meera Bookstore Company, by bringing the products of leading bookstores to Qatar, aims to provide society with the most useful information and instil the passion for reading. In this way, Al Meera contributes to achieving the human and social development pillars of Qatar National Vision 2030 by supporting the State of Qatar in transforming from a hydrocarbon-based economy to a knowledge-based one,” said Al Meera deputy chief executive Dr Mohamed bin Nasser al-Qahtani.

“Al Meera Bookstore Company will offer services that meet the requirements and needs of our students, researchers and academics, based on modern scientific research methods and by using state-of-the-art technology. Through the WHSmith stores, our customers will have access to selected sources of information, helping them boost their education level and sense of creativity and enhance their active contribution to building the society. These stores will also offer all stationery requirements to all ages and students,” he added.

Al Meera plans to open more stores in the coming years.

British retailer WHSmith is known for its stores located on public streets, railway stations, airports and hospitals, where books, stationery, magazines, newspapers and lifestyle products are sold.
