Around 2,480 plots of land will be distributed among citizens soon, Ahmed Musaed al-Muhannadi, the director of the lands and survey department at the Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning, was quoted by the local Arrayah daily newspaper as saying.

Some 280 land vouchers would be handed over to citizens in Umm Ibairiya area next month, and 2,200 vouchers in West Al Khiraitiyat next month and in July.

Al-Muhannadi said that the plots would be distributed in a transparent manner without favouritism or exception.

Giving details, the director said that 250 vouchers would be distributed in West Umm Salal, 150 vouchers in Al Jimailiya area, 200 vouchers in Al Karaana area, and 800 vouchers in Simaisma area this year.

Al-Muhannadi said that the department had already handed over 3,000 vouchers out of 3,700 in Al Wakrah area, and 1,200 vouchers in the area of North Bani Hajir, and it was currently handing over 220 vouchers in Al Shahaniya area.

The director said that in total this year, 7,782 vouchers would be distributed among the citizens.

Al-Muhannadi said that the distribution of land vouchers was being executed within the framework of Qatar National Vision 2030, which seeks to promote human and economic development, social stability and the provision of a decent quality of life.

About complaints that the land was being distributed in only those areas which were without infrastructure and utilities, al-Muhannadi explained that the infrastructure and utilities would be in place within two years as per the schedule made by Ashghal.
