Qatar Railways Company (Qatar Rail), in association with the Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning (MMUP) - Doha Municipality, is holding an awareness programme and a drawing competition for schoolchildren at the Qatar Rail showroom in Lusail City.

The competition, which will conclude on May 20, is aimed at creating and raising awareness about Qatar Rail and its development-oriented activities. This initiative is a part of Qatar Rail’s awareness programme and corporate social responsibility.

Qatar Rail CEO Saad Ahmed al-Muhannadi and Doha Municipality director of Public Affairs Hamad Ali al-Kaabi, along with Qatar Rail deputy CEO and chief programme officer Hamad El Bishri and Qatar Rail executive director (Administration) Meshal Abdulla al-Obaidan, were present on the occasion to encourage young creative talents to unleash their potential.

All drawing materials are being made available by Qatar Rail for the participating children selected from various schools. One of the main objectives is to make kids, aged eight to 12 years, illustrate images related to Qatar Rail and how it will change the face of the country.

The children will be instructed to draw about Qatar Rail and their creations will be submitted to a jury, which will pick the best drawings. Winners will have a chance to display their own pictures on Qatar Rail hoardings.

Each participating child will receive a colouring book as gift from Qatar Rail.

At the venue, Qatar Rail officials will brief children and their accompanying teachers on the mega projects being undertaken by Qatar Rail.

Wishing all the success to the children, the Qatar Rail CEO said: “Imagination of young minds can make a lot of difference to our social and corporate approach. We express our gratitude to MMUP - Doha Municipality for having chosen us as their partner for this initiative.”

Al-Kaabi thanked Qatar Rail for organising the awareness programme and drawing competition for schoolchildren. “This support will introduce Qatar Rail and Doha Metro projects to students and raise awareness about the importance of railways in the development of Qatar,” he said.

Qatar Rail will also provide a presentation depicting the various steps in the making of a railway network and its officials present at the ballroom will guide the kids and their teachers through various pictorial boards and designs that delineate the current and future stages of railways.
