Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta yesterday visited the new port project in Mesaieed where he was received by the project’s manager Nabil al-Buainain.

The Kenyan president and the accompanying delegation were given a presentation on the work in progress at the project and the services it offers.

Later, he was accompanied on a tour around the project by HE the Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage Dr Hamad bin Abdul Aziz al-Kuwari, Qatar’s Ambassador to Nairobi Ibrahim bin Mohamed Abdulrahman al-Abdullah and Kenyan Ambassador to Doha Galma Mukhe Boru.

The president expressed his admiration of the project.

The new port project, extending over 26.5km, features three sections; the new port, Emiri Naval Forces base and an artificial channel for the economic zone. 

Also yesterday, the Kenyan president met at his residence with Qatar Investment Authority CEO Ahmad bin Mohamed al-Sayed.

During the meeting, held in the presence of members of a senior delegation accompanying the Kenyan president as well as QIA officials, they discussed economic and investment ties between the two countries.
