Qatar Airways has clarified that its flight QR001, en route to London Heathrow, returned to Doha on Sunday after the crew reported a “minor technical issue” shortly after take-off from Doha International Airport. “The airline transferred all passengers to another aircraft and accommodated them in an alternate flight after a four-hour delay. Qatar Airways’ priority, as always, remains the comfort and safety of its passengers and staff,” a Qatar Airways spokesperson told Gulf Times yesterday. Earlier, the Doha News website had reported that the Qatar Airways’ flight to London was “forced to turn around” 10 minutes into its journey and “performed an emergency landing” at Doha International Airport. Quoting some passengers, it said the flight was grounded after “a burning smell and smoke were detected in the cabin”.
