HE the Minister of Education and Higher Education and Secretary General of the Supreme Education Council (SEC) Dr Mohamed Abdul Wahed Ali al-Hammadi will open the Education Forum 2014 tomorrow.

The three-day forum is organised by the Education Institute of the Supreme Education Council (SEC) at the Qatar National Convention Centre.  

The forum will stage the 6th National Students Fair in addition to an exhibition of the outstanding educational practices.

Panel discussions and other events are also scheduled.

The Education Forum 2014 reflects how rapidly the SEC departments and schools have improved so far, bringing the academic performance of both students and teachers to advanced levels.

 

Emir, PM condole S Korea ferry disaster victims

HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani have sent cables to President Park Geun-hye of South Korea condoling the victims of the ferry that sank off the coast of South Korea.

 

Emir congratulates Algerian president

HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani yesterday held a telephone conversation with Algerian President Abdulaziz Bouteflika during which the Emir congratulated him on his re-election as president of Algeria and wished him success and for the Algerian people more progress and prosperity.  They also reviewed bilateral relations and means to enhance them.

 

Asian expat  hit by car in Industrial Area


An Asian expatriate was severely injured after being hit by a vehicle in the Doha Industrial Area on Friday, local Arabic daily Arrayah reported yesterday.

The man was trying to cross the road (Street 33) when he was hit by the car. He suffered a number of fractures and injuries. Traffic Police patrols and ambulances rushed to the spot and the injured was taken to a hospital.

An investigation is under way to ascertain the cause of the accident.
