Qatar to celebrate
World Heritage
Day today

Qatar will honour  a group of Qatari personalities today on the occasion of  World Heritage Day.
HE the Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage Dr Hamad bin Abdul Aziz al-Kuwari will honour a group of Qatari heritage pioneers during the event, which has gained more significance after Qatar Museums Authority announced in 2013 that Zubarah town had become a Unesco world heritage site.
Dr al-Kuwari said this year’s celebration is different thanks to the achievements made in the field of heritage. “Heritage is one of the main pillars of development in Qatar, and is also one of the main pillars of the Qatar National Vision 2030’s cultural aspect,” he was quoted as saying by QNA.
“We always believe that development is a two-sided coin ... The first face of development lies in construction and modernisation, and the second aspect is identity. And there is no doubt that heritage is one of the most important aspects of identity, and this was emphasized by the Qatar National Vision 2030,” Dr al-Kuwari added.
